Compare this to an exhibition I went to at the vienna modern art museum, Bad Painting, Good Art. I have never seen 'rigour/ous' used with such frequency, again with the austrian thing talking plenty about what they're not actually doing. the introduction to their modernist section was especially admonishing: "You may well look at a work and stand back aghast at the arrogance of the artist telling you they have found perfection but..." was seriously how it began.
